The University of Arkansas at Little Rock, in collaboration with BioVentures, has opened applications for the AI Hackathon & HealthTech Startup Week, taking place June 8–12, 2026, on the UA Little Rock campus. 

The five-day program brings together high school and college students (ages 16–26) to work in multidisciplinary teams to address real healthcare challenges using artificial intelligence. Participants will be assigned to teams based on their skills and interests and will collaborate with peers, mentors, and professionals from healthcare and technology sectors. 

The program combines training and project development, culminating in a final demo and pitch competition on June 12 at 2 p.m., where teams will present their solutions to industry representatives. A total of $20,000 in prizes will be awarded. 

Participation is free, and meals and a limited number of dorm accommodations are provided. No prior hackathon experience is required. Participants must be available for the full duration of the program and provide their own laptop. 

Applications are open until April 30, 2026. Selected participants will be notified on May 8, with team assignments announced on May 15 and access to preparatory materials provided on May 22. 

In addition to student participants, the program is also seeking mentors and educators interested in supporting the initiative.
