The Cancer Advanced Development and Entrepreneurship Training (CADET) program is a graduate-level initiative that prepares UAMS biomedical trainees to translate cancer-related discoveries into real-world applications. Supported by a multi-year National Cancer Institute (NCI) R25 grant, the program combines formal instruction with hands-on experience, pairing trainees with BioVentures staff and industry mentors to evaluate UAMS intellectual property, develop commercialization strategies, and build business plans. Participants gain practical insight into the cancer innovation ecosystem and leave equipped to assess the commercial potential of research and engage effectively with industry, investors, and other key stakeholders.
Program Commitment: This is a year-long program requiring weekly meetings, ongoing team-based project work, and participation in mentor sessions and key milestone presentations across the academic year.
Open to UAMS graduate students and postdoctoral fellows engaged in cancer research or related fields who are interested in translational science and able to commit to a year-long program with weekly meetings and team-based activities.
